Build the technical skills, creative range, and professional confidence to begin your future in beauty.

Cosmetology is more than learning how to perform services. It is a blend of creativity, technical training, wellness, communication, and professionalism. At Jean Madeline Institute, students develop their abilities through a combination of academic knowledge, practical experience, and professional business-building skills designed to support long-term success in the beauty industry.

Our cosmetology curriculum is designed to be comprehensive, giving students the opportunity to build confidence across a wide range of beauty disciplines while learning how to work with guests in a professional environment. From foundational techniques to advanced services, students gain experience that helps prepare them for licensure and for life in the salon.

What You’ll Learn

Our Cosmetology Program combines classroom learning with hands-on practice to help students build a complete understanding of beauty and wellness. Training includes hair, skin, nail care, and makeup, while also helping students develop the communication, retailing, and professional habits that support real-world success. Students learn through theory, mannequin work, live models, and guest-service experience in a student salon environment.

 Foundations

Students begin by building the essential knowledge that supports safe, professional beauty services. This includes infection control, microbiology, anatomy, chemistry, professional image, communication, life skills, and state laws and regulations.

Hair Cutting and Styling

Training includes precision haircutting, sectioning, wet and thermal styling, blow-drying, hair dressing, braiding, sculpting techniques, long hair design, formal styling, wigs, and hair enhancements. Students build confidence creating both everyday and occasion-ready looks.

Hair Color and Texture Services

Students explore the art and science of hair color through color theory, formulation, temporary and permanent color, bleaching, toning, and special effects. The program also covers texture services such as permanent waving, chemical rearranging, relaxing, and other techniques that help prepare students for a wide range of salon services.

Skin, Nails, and Makeup

Cosmetology students also develop foundational skills in skincare, facials, facial waxing, makeup application, manicuring, pedicuring, and advanced nail techniques. This broader training helps students graduate with a more complete understanding of total beauty services.

Salon Readiness and Business Skills

Success in beauty requires more than technical talent. Students also build experience in retailing, salon business, guest communication, professional ethics, employment preparation, and the service habits that support career growth in a salon or spa environment.

Training designed to build skills step by step.

Our curriculum is organized to help students progress from foundational knowledge into more advanced techniques across hair, color, texture, skin, and nails. Each stage of training builds on the last, helping students grow in confidence, technical ability, and professionalism as they prepare for licensure and future career opportunities.

Prepare for a variety of career paths in the beauty industry.

A cosmetology education can open the door to a wide range of opportunities in the beauty industry. Graduates may pursue entry-level roles such as hairstylist, makeup artist, manicurist, color specialist, or other beauty-focused positions in salon and service environments.

With the right training, beauty professionals can combine technical skill, creativity, and guest care to begin building careers that are both personal and professional. Our goal is to help students leave the program ready to pursue licensure and step into the industry with confidence.
